The Official Trailer For ‘From Dusk Till Dawn’ Series Has Arrived

dusktilldawnWant to see Superman pretend to be Batman? Good. Then watch this trailer for From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series, which will be the centerpiece project for the launch of Robert Rodriguez’s El Rey Network.

Now, why did I bring up Supes and Bats? If you watch the trailer, you’ll notice that there are a few key moments where D.J. Cotrona literally apes George Clooney’s line-readings from the film. They’re playing the same character, yes. But actually copying Clooney’s style? Interesting choice. Catrona was cast as Superman for George Miller’s aborted Justice League film, in case you forgot. Clooney played Batman in Batman & Robin, which you probably forced yourself to forget.

So what did you think of the trailer? To me, some of it definitely has potential. In particular, I’m interested in the way Rodriguez is handling Zane Holtz’s Richard Gecko character- which was played by Quentin Tarantino in the original From Dusk Till Dawn movie. In the film, we got a sense of his psychotic nature, but it looks like we’ll actually get glimpses into what his demented eyes see when he goes into one of his sick trances. Could be fun. And it seems like they’re not going to go too heavy into the supernatural/vampire stuff, at least for now, which I think is  a wise choice.

Overall, I’m loving Rodriguez’s vision for the El Rey Network, so I hope this does well. But we shall see.

From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series is set to premiere on March 11.
