Bette Midler Thinks Hocus Pocus Remake Will Be ‘Cheap’

Hocus Pocus is a film that has a very special place in a lot of film fans’ hearts. Sure, it may not be the best movie in the world, but it’s a whole lot of fun, and for those who were at the right age, it’s the ultimate Halloween film — one that’s been ripe for a sequel for a while.

For a while, it seemed like a sequel was possible, but rather than go for a sequel, Disney is now shooting for a TV movie remake. Yeah, are you skeptical? Us, too. And we’re not the only ones.

Even Hocus Pocus star Bette Midler is equally skeptical, as she expressed to People:

“I know it’s cheap. It’s going to be cheap! I’m not sure what they’re going to do with my character. My character is very, very broad and I don’t know who they’re going to find to play that.”

Indeed all the witches were pretty damn broad in Hocus Pocus, and with this remake, it looks like they’re going to try recapture that essence with a wholly different cast, which seems destined to fail. What’s worse is that Midler isn’t game to actually show up in a cameo role.

What do you think? Are you also skeptical about this, or do you think the film has a chance at being good? Let us know down below!
