FIREFLY: Fox Is Open To A Reboot!! With One Small Caveat

If you are a super sci-fi geek, loved Battlestar Gallatica or Star Trek: Deep Space 9, then you may have worshiped a “one year show” before it was cancelled called Firefly. I can say that I actually did not like the first two shows mentioned (please don’t ignore everything I say going forth due to the Battlestar comment), but I was obsessed over Firefly. The show had great actors; Alan Tudyk was wonderful (check him out in Powerless), and the story was stellar. I was elated when Serenity was made for the big screen, but I was left wondering if the franchise would ever have a future.

As it turns out, according to Fox, there just may be a chance.

We know that this is considered one of the best sci-fi adaptations ever created, which Joss Whedon helmed, and it starred Nathan Fillion as Capt. Reynolds, Alan Tudyk as Wash, Gina Torres as Zoë, Adam Baldwin as Cobb, Morena Baccarin as Inara Serra , and Jewel Staite as Kaylee Frye — Not to mention the few episodes with Christina Hendricks (Mad Men, Drive) as Saffron. Last but not least, and again, this show was created, written, and 3 episodes were directed by Whedon. With such a great cast and crew wouldn’t Fox be dying for this cult hit to be given a more digitally technological modern take?

The problem is simply this: Fox President Of Entertainment David Madden has said the option is on the table but he requires one condition, albeit a huge one at that. Joss Whedon must be on board for this to happen. There were no mention of his actual role in the production, but one could assume Madden is referring to Show Writer/Creator.

We can only hope! Would you like to see a brand spanking new reboot with new characters? Would you rather see the originals return? This could be a huge show for years to come if done properly. Thoughts?
