Earlier this week I mused that Sony and Marvel Studios are so confident that the Spider-Man property is a money-printing machine that they can just relax and do a “less is more” promotional campaign for his next film. Now that he was so successfully reintroduced in Captain America: Civil War, and now that fans everywhere know that he’s part of a shared world that includes The Avengers, they could just coast on by without revealing much and the movie would still make a mint when Spider-Man: Homecoming comes out next July.

But it sounds like Sony/Marvel aren’t going to be content to rest on their laurels after all…

At the CCXP event taking place in Brazil, Sony just screened a clip from Spider-Man: Homecoming that’s apparently going tobe part of the trailer that’s going to be attached to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

*WARNING! Serious Spoilers Lie Ahead!*

I’ll let Marvel’s own Agent M describe what the Spider-Man: Homecoming clip entailed:

“The Spider-Man: Homecoming footage was short but AWESOME. Starts from Spidey’s POV, talking with Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau). There’s a case from Tony Stark with an ‘upgrade’ for Spidey. Then we see Spidey leap off a building, open his arms, web wings! There were a few more flashes of shots, but I can’t remember. That classic underarm webbing look was just so rad.”

Other fans are claiming there was even a glimpse of something that resembled the Iron Spider suit, but let’s just focus on Agent M’s revelation about the web wings- since the Iron Spider thing is a bit confusing. The appearance of the web wings would be the first time in five solo Spider-Man films that we’ve ever seen that classic costume on the big screen!

According to other descriptions of the sequence that are making the rounds, Spidey dives off of the Washington monument and uses the wings to glide straight towards Vulture!

Again, it sounds like we won’t have to wait too long to see this clip for ourselves as it’ll be a part of the Spider-Man: Homecoming trailer that’s about to be released alongside Rogue One.

What do you think?
