James Spader Talks about Villain Role in ‘Avengers: Age of Ultron’

Now I’m free. There are no strings on me.

Actor James Spader is free to speak on his character Ultron in the upcoming sequel “Avengers: Age of Ultron.” The official teaser trailer was released yesterday by Marvel after someone leaked it earlier on to the Internet. Click here to watch that trailer.

Total Film had a conversation with Spader for its upcoming issue.

As expected, he described Ultron as a new machine trying to find himself in the world.

“In many ways he’s a child, this character, because he’s a brand new being who’s just come to be. And yet, through artificial intelligence, he has an incredible capacity for knowledge. So he’s a very powerful, smart child,” he told the magazine.

In comparison to his character Red on “The Blacklist,” Ultron is much more devious and conniving.

“Ultron takes abrupt turns in scenes,” he said. “Red isn’t pyschopathic but Ultron is. Yes, he is psychopathic. He’s really batshit crazy!”

Oh, we can’t wait.

“Avengers: Age of Ultron” will be in theaters on April 24 next year. Full text of the interview in Total Film is out tomorrow in newsstands.
