Peter Jackson is hard at work on a new film for Steven Spielberg's Amblin Entertainment, New Zealand's Time Out magazine reported.
In an interview with the outlet, director/producer Steven Spielberg teased that THE HOBBIT director was hard at work on some secret project for Amblin -- and from the sound of it, it isn't the sequel to TINTIN:
“Peter was so busy with ‘THE HOBBIT’ that it took him away from ‘TINTIN’ and he’s doing another film for my company now. It’s a secret, nobody knows about it. Then after that he’ll do TINTIN.”
This will be the first project the pair have worked on together since the first ADVENTURES OF TINTIN back in 2011. While the film was received fairly well by critics, it didn't exactly break the bank at the box office. All the same, Peter Jackson agreed to direct the sequel, and in the third film, both he and Spielberg hoped to co-direct. This would've been a cool merging of minds, but given the lukewarm box office results, it doesn't appear to be feasible -- at least not yet.
Instead, it sounds like Jackson is exploring a whole new world with this other project. What it could be is anyone's guess, but given Amblin's track record, it's a good bet that the project will be kid-friendly and all kinds of special.
