It’s been an interesting few days for fans of Doctor Who with word that the Twelfth Doctor, Peter Capaldi ,was going to be exiting the long-running series. But there’s a possibility that the wait to find his replacement may not be a long one, and odds-makers in Britain have already named a frontrunner.
According to William Hill, a British online betting site, Ben Whishaw could be the next Time Lord!
The site has a list of possible candidates for the Thirteenth Doctor, but Whishaw is leading the pack with 6/1 odds to snag the role. Whishaw is perhaps best known for his work as Q in the last two Daniel Craig James Bond movies Skyfall and Spectre.
Whishaw is 37 years old, which would create a sharp contrast from Capaldi, who’s 58. There’ve been murmurs that age was one of the issues that ultimately led to Capaldi’s decision to leave Doctor Who.
As of now, no one that’s actually involved with the production, including showrunner Steven Moffat, has commented about who may replace Capaldi.
We’ll keep an eye on this and see if these bookies are onto something.
What do you think, Doctor Who fans? Would you like to Whishaw as the Thirteenth Doctor? Sound off below!
