Ahead of the trailer release tomorrow, Universal Pictures has released a featurette for their upcoming film, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

Moreso than even Jurassic World, they really play this film up as a love letter to the mythology of the original Jurassic Park. According to the cast and crew, it manages to take the franchise where it’s never gone before, all while bringing what audiences are hoping for.

Highlighted in the featurette is director J.A. Bayona. He most recently won the hearts of audiences with A Monster Calls. He’s also well known for bringing the scares (just watch his haunting film, The Orphanage). With his focus on terror and suspense, mixed in with the high adventure of the first Jurassic World, it’s sure to be a great mix that helps brings back what made Jurassic Park great back in the 1990s.

Also highlighted here is the film’s use of animatronics. While Jurassic World did utilize some animatronic work, it looks like a much greater percentage of it — along with other practical effects — will be used in Fallen Kingdom.

Finally, in the featurette, we get to see our first look at the man himself, Jeff Goldblum, reprising his role as Ian Malcolm, a favorite in the world of Jurassic Park. ‘Nuff said. They need to drop this trailer already.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s trailer hits tomorrow, and the film hits theaters on June 22, 2018.

Looks pretty good so far. Probably my favorite arc with Jurassic Park is how Dr. Henry Wu went from young, ambivalent scientist, to this scheming evil overlord.

There is a saying that just because science says they can do something, it doesn’t mean they should based on common decency and the far reaching implications. BUT, because many high level scientists have no moral qualms about the sanctity of life, much less animal life for some, there shouldn’t be any limits to what BD Wong’s character is capable of committing. He can be the real arch nemesis, kind of like the new Doctor Moreau of the Jurassic series.

I keep expecting Andy Dwyer going
I didn’t hate Jurassic World but this is 10 billion times better anticipation, more props, the right cast, looks fun. Understand you’re audience, show enough props, even just the second of Jeff Goldblum and BD Wong is enough to get fans excited.
