Edge of Tomorrow is the best “original” action film in decades – though it has never been a foreign film or television show, let alone a Hollywood franchise, it was based on a Japanese light novel, to be fair. The script from the writer/director, Christopher McQuarrie of Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation and Mission: Impossible – Fallout, was killer, director Doug Liman’s action was edgy and his direction brought out great performances from Tom Cruise and Emily Blunt. Greater than usual, of course.
We’ve heard for a while now that Tom Cruise has been interested in a sequel, and pitched his original idea to Liman himself. We also heard the title would be Live Die Repeat and Repeat, due to the original film being incorrectly called the tagline, “Live, Die, Repeat” instead of Edge of Tomorrow.
CinemaBlend caught up with Liman at SDCC, and he had this minor update on the project:
“We’re working on the script. We have a story I really love.”

Though it is disappointing they aren’t farther along at this point, why rush what could be a great movie? And someone is writing a script? Even better, because a studio is already spending money on Live Die Repeat and Repeat, even with the ridiculous title (that I love).
