Unsurprisingly, Marvel Studios has been pretty coy about the future of the MCU after Avengers 4. Sure, we know about Spider-Man: Far From Home and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 (Though whether or not that latter film actually pans out…we’ll see), but there are a few other I.P.s that we don’t quite know the future of yet, including Doctor Strange.
The film hit theaters back in 2016, and received both critical and box-office success, seeming to solidify the eventuality of a sequel…and yet here we are, a couple years later, and any details of a sequel still elude us. However, in an unexpected move, director of the first film Scott Derrickson took to social media to post an image of Doctor Strange from the comics along the caption, “‘Not my will, but thine be done…’ See you in September.”

Very interesting. For obvious reasons, we’re inclined to believe that Derrickson is teasing the impending sequel for the film, but what is specifically happening in September? Will he be starting preproduction, production, or just development for the Sorcerer Supreme’s next film? And that’s already assuming that he even is talking about a sequel.
When all said and done, I can’t think of any other reason we’d see this from Derrickson apart from a new Strange film. What I’m intrigued about is what exactly is going down in September.
Are you as convinced as me? If not, what do you think he has in store for us? Sound off down below!
