Noemi Gonzalez is a well-known actress, especially from her role as Mia Rosales in 65 episodes of The Young and the Restless (my mom and grandma are huge fans). She is also known for her roles in Gang Related, The Vatican Tapes, Paranormal Activity: The Marked Ones, and 2019’s Tax Collector. I had to opportunity to meet the outgoing, personable actress at SDCC and follow up with her regarding her role in DARK/WEB as well as her current projects she is involved in.
1. Now that SDCC has come and gone, what was your impression of premiering DARK/WEB at SDCC?
I’m so thankful and proud of DARK/WEB premiering at SDCC! I love SDCC and its fans! I mean, it’s a perfect platform to debut with our themes and characters. I appreciated the fan attendance and appreciation!
2. Molly’s insulin runs extremely low at the end, but her monologue in episode 8 suggests she possibly had time to change it out. Was she truly that dedicated to her mission that she could not leave what she was doing with MIHR, or did she let it run out on purpose?
It’s both! I can only speak to my interpretation but I think she was truly dedicated; so dedicated she let it run out on purpose. She knew she couldn’t leave her work with MIHR. I think she knew she was a goner when she decided to take MIHR, knowing she was going to be reprimanded, lobotomized, criminalized, or assassinated. She was going to go on her own terms. Dying for what she believes in. Also… I think the heaviness of the world got to her during her monologue. She knew she wanted to go because of how dismal it’s been for her, and on the other side of that token, she’s doing it in the hopes it can be better for someone else or rather everybody else.
3. Would you like to reprise your role from the perspective of MIHR? If so, what would you like to see in a possible DARK/WEB sequel?
Of course! I’d love to reprise Molly! It’s like letting Molly’s computer-child create a hologram of Molly from its perspective. It’s so interesting. I’d like to see Molly as a kid or MIHR miss Molly or go back to its memories of Molly. Hopefully it sees her as a nurturing, compassionate person.
4. What current projects are you working on?
Although I can’t talk about the current project I am working on, I’d love to tell you what I’ve done since D/W! Since Dark/Web I had the pleasure of working with writer/director David Ayer for a much anticipated crime-thriller feature film entitled The Tax Collector. It was an incredible creative experience.
