A few months ago we reported on a rumor that Disney had given the ax to more than 100 projects at Fox Studios. Disney came out and said the rumor was completely false and we updated our story accordingly. It has been a while since any news came about one of the films mentioned in the original rumor, which may give some credence to it, but that dry spell is over. Game company Capcom (Street Fighter, Resident Evil) has confirmed their Mega Man property is still heading for the big screen.
Mega Man, also known as the Blue Bomber, is a human-like robot who does battle with the creations of the evil Dr. Wiley. Wiley’s robots all have a specific power that, once defeated, can be used by Mega Man to more easily defeat other bosses. Think of it as extended Rock, Paper, Scissors.
According to Capcom, the project is still in development at the Disney owned Fox Studios. There is no release date and no new information on writers, directors, or producers. The last information on those involved came last October when it was announced Henry Joost and Ariel Schulman were writing and directing with Masi Oka producing.
