Kevin Feige Explains The 6 Hour MCU Disney+ Shows Sweetspot

Previously Marvel boss Kevin Feige has mentioned 6 hour MCU Disney+ shows. At the time it was not clear whether this meant all MCU Disney+ shows would be 6 hours, or whether this was just a casual mention. Now Feige has given a bit more information on where he got the 6 hour MCU Disney+ shows guide.

In a recent appearance at the TCA Fiege said the following, as covered by Deadline.

“Six hours is what we landed on as the best way to tell our story,” he added. “Six hours, whether it’s six episodes, or nine shorter episodes like WandaVision. The shows aren’t inexpensive, so the per-episode cost is very high and to get that bar I was talking about.”

So it seems Fiege is using this 6 hour MCU Disney+ show rule for all the shows they are developing. However, whether that means 6, 9, or even more episodes will be dependent on the show itself. This information could also indicate that the final episode of WandaVision is the longest yet. Episode 8 is conformed to be 47 minutes long. That leaves us with quite a bit of time to get to that 6 hour mark.

However, I’m not convinced Feige is being specific with his 6 hour quotes. I’m sure if the runtime comes in at 5 hours and 46 minutes, Feige isn’t going to demand another 15 minutes of footage. So while this could indicate WandaVision Episode as the longest episode, it’s not a fact. Personally I am expecting the longest episode to date for the finale, but I do not expect a 1.5 hour episode. That remains to be seen though, thus far there are o leaks about the length of WandaVision Episode 9.

Feige also confirmed that there were no plans for a WandaVision Season 2. However, he did say, ‘never say never, and also conformed that some of the Disney+ shows will get a second season. First of those appears to be Loki, which we have heard is already penned in for a Season 2.

Do you think this plan for 6 hour MCU Disney+ shows is the sweet spot? Personally I always felt like Netflix shows at 12 or more  episodes were just too long. So far I have to say I am happy with the length and budget of WandaVision. As Feige says, I think they found the sweet spot for MCU shows. Do you agree?
