Next Lord Of The Rings Director Discovered For Amazon Show

Amazon's Lord of the Rings show release date

It looks like we know who the final Lord of the Rings director is at Amazon. So far J.A Bayona was announced as the director of the first two episodes of the show, and showrunner. We then found recently that Wayne Che Yip was also going to be directing some episodes. Those following the production were therefore predicting one final director to be announced, and it looks like they found their woman.

Evidence points to Charlotte Brändström being the final director of Season 1. For the evidence as to why, feel free to watch this very detailed video from Fellowship of Fans. Or just trust me that it’s solid deduction.

This is the same source that broke Wayne Che Yip a couple weeks prior to his official announcement. As the presenter of the video says, he’s more sure about this one than he was for Yip. Personally I found the evidence compelling for Yip, and for Brändström overwhelming.

It’s almost unfeasible at this point that Brändström isn’t helming some episodes. As for her work so far, you’ll be surprised by likely how much you’ve seen directed by French/Swedish Brändström. Brändström directed several episodes of The Witcher, though also one of my least favorite ones, hey ho. Also Jupiter’s Legacy which is showing soon on Netflix, as well as Amazon’s The Man in the High Castle, which was a favorite show of mien (damn Freudian slip) mine. Madame Secretary, Outlander, Arrow, Grey’s Anatomy and many more show off Brändström’s resume.

If filming is still going on Season 1, I’m thinking it could be mid to late 2022 before we actually see this show airing on Amazon Prime. Though that is just a guess, I’ll also guess that first out the gate will be Amazon’s other big fantasy show The Wheel of Time, which I expect to air by the end of this year. For me, I just want Amazon to give us a title. I cannot see the name of this remaining The Lord of the Rings on Prime after all. For a start, though this show will heavily deal with the aforementioned ‘Lord of the Rings’, this in fact not that story. Specifically the show will be set many thousands of years prior to the events of that story.

So if anyone from Amazon is reading this, Jeff, I know you do. Then please choose a title and release it already. What do you think of this latest Lord of the Rings director? a always, leave any thoughts below.
