Check out the Destiny 2: The Witch Queen cinematic trailer that was revealed yesterday at the Game Awards. The Witch Queen is the big expansion currently arriving in February which will signify the beginning of year 5 for the game. Most previous expansions would arrive around September, but this newest expansion was delayed till February. In the meantime developers Bungie did release the Bungie 30th Anniversary DLC pack, which I am playing currently. However, cool as that will be for a week or two, the next big expansion is where my own thoughts move towards. Check it out.
It’s a weird situation this expansion in terms of spoilers. Players only know that Savathun is currently in hiding and right now in the story we are trying to help her shed the influence of the dark upon her. And Yet, we know that’s Savathun pictured in the image above and it’s her who is behind all the problems we face in The Witch Queen. You know, given she is the Witch Queen. It kinda makes you want to stop helping here in the game currently, ha. Though of course, in a game like Destiny 2, story spoilers are only so significant. Ultimately fans want a trailer and something as big as Savathun having the light and giving it to Hive is too cool not to show up front.

I love the way this trailer mixes some cinematic moments but mixed in what looks like genuine gameplay. It may well be curated and scripted gameplay, but that’s definitely in-engine as well. This past year of Destiny 2: Beyond Light has been in my humble opinion the best year ever of Destiny. The seasons have been great, the story mysterious, the balance tight, and cool new weapons’ and skins. Ultimately after years of stuttering, Destiny 2 is where it should have been to begin with, probably the best action-MMO game in the world.
What do you think of the Destiny 2: The Witch Queen cinematic trailer? I’ve already bought the expansion, are you going to? Thoughts below as always.
