New Poster and Featurette with Emma Stone in Frankenstein-like Film Poor Things

Emma Stone and Mark Ruffalo in Poor Things

Frankenstein from Mary Shelley tells the horror and consequences of playing God to bring something back from the dead. In Poor Things, it tells a tale of a young woman re-adjusting back in society after being brought back from the dead.

Rather than a horror, this film is a comedy with Emma Stone playing the lead character named Bella.

Here is the official synopsis:

From filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos and producer Emma Stone comes the incredible tale and fantastical evolution of Bella Baxter (Stone), a brilliant and unorthodox scientist Dr. Godwin Baxter. Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn, a slick and debauched lawyer. One a whirlwind adventure across the continents, free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

The film also stars Mark Ruffalo, Willem Dafoe, Ramy Youssef, Christopher Abbott, and Jerrod Carmichael.

Poor Things seems to be a light-hearted comedy in the tune of Terry Gilliam’s The Adventures of Baron Munchausen with the colors and imagination. Watching Emma Stone’s performance on getting her bearings back after being dead will be most interesting.

Poor Things is in theaters on December 8.
