In a recent interview MCU star Sebastian Stan gives us a rough date for Thunderbolts to begin filming. This film as we all know was delayed due to the strikes and has now lost one its key actors in Steven Yeun. However when speaking with Variety recently Stan said the plan is to start filming soon.
“I’m excited. I’m going to go back basically in a month or so. I’ve missed it. It’s a great cast,” Stan said before alluding to Marvel’s recent box office struggles. “The batting average is so high that it’s difficult to always land everything right away. It’s always been a great experience. With this one in particular, I think there’s a lot of good things.”
That puts Thunderbolts beginning production around March which is also what was rumored by insiders. However, that gives Marvel weeks to find a new actor to play Sentry in the movie. The character seems too integral to the rumored plot to change. Rumors also say Marvel already tried to get Austin Abrams, who turned it down or could not commit. So far we’ve not heard any other names linked with Sentry. However, one assumes this is a top priority for Marvel in the next few weeks.

If we don’t know who Sentry is from the Barside Buzz before filming begins we will for sure know when shooting commences. Thunderbolts won’t release until at least 2025 and currently looks further ahead than Fantastic Four which is supposed to come out before it. It seems more and more likely Fantastic Four won’t be ready for May 2025, but perhaps Thunderbolts will?
