Daredevil: Born Again will get it’s own ‘corridor’ scene star Charlie Cox promises fans. Daredevil Season 1 had a brilliantly shot one take ‘corridor’ scene which was then emulated/honored in both Season 2 and 3. Fans of those shows should therefore be happy to learn the practice will continue in Born Again.
Cox and co-star D’Onofrio (Kingpin) recently appeared at Fan Expo Boston, the panel was hosted by Collider‘s Steve Weintraub. He asked if Born Again would be taking on an ‘oners’ (one take scenes), and if they could explain what those are to the audience?
Cox began by explaining what the shot/scene is.
“There’s different types of oners. A oner is a fight scene that takes place in one shot, without [cuts.] So there’s things called a true oner. A true oner is when it really is one take and there’s no editing, there’s no cuts, there’s no morphing, which is when you move the camera past something that is a solid color, and then you can technically then cut during the black of that. So, if the camera moves past someone’s black shirt, there’s a moment during that where the whole screen is black, and you can then stitch a different take after that. So it looks like it’s a oner, but it’s actually not.”
He then followed that up by promising the fans;
“those who are excited by [oners] will not be disappointed.”

What kind of oner will it be, who knows? The morphing ones can be used to get even more creative, and have a bigger scope. Yet, there’s also an authenticity to the traditional one take, like that first ‘corridor’ scene. How about we get one of each? That will do me, ha.
Honestly as long as Born Again has a similar feeling of quality as Daredevil 1-3 had I’ll be happy. Irrespective of any ‘corridor’ scenes. Whether it does match the quality of those shows remain to be seen? The rest of the Netflix shows were bang average for me, but Daredevil 1-3 were great.
