Art the Clown Dismantles the Joker: A Brutal Box Office Beatdown

Did anyone really think Arthur Fleck could hold his own against Art the Clown? Those hopes were dashed in a brutal fashion this October. It wasn’t even close. Fleck didn’t just lose, he got obliterated. If you thought Gotham’s crowned prince had a chance, think again.

Let’s break it down. Back in 2019, Todd Phillips gave us a Joker that captivated audiences, painting a grim portrait of a Gotham pre-Batman. A billion-dollar box office take made Arthur Fleck seem untouchable, but that was a different world, pre-pandemic.

Meanwhile, Art the Clown had been lurking in the shadows since his 2013 debut, quietly stacking a body count. His early performances weren’t exactly showstoppers, but something changed. He started punching above his weight, and this time he came to play with the big boys.

Art’s opening weekend? A jaw-dropping eighteen million on a shoestring two million budget. Not bad for a guy who used to haunt bargain-bin horror.
