Chateau Trailer Is Found Footage Horror with Ghost Hunter Vlogger

Cathy Marks in Chateau

Found footage films may not quite be dead yet for the horror genre.

In the spirit of those ghost hunters, Chateau has one content creator seeking a chance to uncover the mysteries of a now-closed mansion.

The film stars Cathy Marks (American Horror Story, Scream Queens) and Colton Tran (The Sex Lives of College Girls, Cloud 9). Luke Genton directed and wrote the movie.

Here is the official synopsis:

While on a French vacation funded by odd jobs, an aspiring influencer named James is hired to clean a reportedly haunted chateau. With unrestricted access to a property that is normally closed to the public, she sees an opportunity to covertly film a vlog that could result in an influx of followers. While investigating a series of disappearances linked to the residence, James uncovers a chilling truth: those who perish there remain trapped. And they want their story told…

Found footage films have come and go since The Blair Witch Project in 2000. Yet, this subgenre of horror films remains because it’s the easiest and cheapest type of film production. Chateau looks to have a creepy mansion and makeup effects for its ghostly creatures.

Chateau is available digitally on December 6
