Some new Spider-Man: Brand New Day set photos seem to tell us when exactly the film is set in the MCU timeline. There was some confusion over this film specifically due to the previous release order of the next three Marvel movies. Originally we were to get Avengers: Doomsday, then Brand New Day, then Avengers: Secret Wars. With Spider-Man’s movie coming between the two there were a lot of rumors, the plot would take place concurrently with Doomsday.
However, recent set photos indicate that is not the case. We know the rough time of Fantastic Four arriving from the post-credit scene of Thunderbolts*. Therefore if the signage on the background of the Brand New Day set is accurate, it should be set before the Fantastic Four arrived in that scene.

As you can see this construction site says it’s due to be finished by 2027. Oh, and since this image was taken from Glasgow, not New York, we know it’s for the film. It seems like Avengers: Doomsday begins in 2028 of the MCU. Therefore, it makes sense that Brand New Day is set before the events of Doomsday. There are rumors Tom Holland will appear in Doomsday, but have a far bigger role in Secret Wars.
So far all we know about Spider-Man: Brand New Day officially is that Holland will be joined by Sadie Sink and Jon Bernthal (as Punisher) as well as returning characters MJ and Ned. There are rumors Hulk will feature as well as some other villains, but that’s yet to be confirmed.
Does his mean the plot was changed slightly when Doomsday was delayed? Or was Brand New Day always set to begin before Doomsday? I guess we may never find out for certain, unless the studios discusses it after release.
What do you think of when Spider-Man: Brand New Day is set in the MCU timeline, before Doomsday? Leave any thoughts below.
