DCU Rumors Roundup: Jimmy Olsen Series – Batman Casting – Lanterns Reaction – Bane/Deathstroke Up Next

A big DCU rumors roundup today including, Batman casting, Jimmy Olsen series details and the Bane/Deathstroke movie that's due next

A big DCU rumors roundup today including, Batman casting, Jimmy Olsen series details and the Bane/Deathstroke movie that’s due next. It’s a lot to cover so let’s get started! We’ll begin with some news on the Jimmy Olsen/Gorilla Grodd series that once called DC Crime but now, who knows?

The information comes from folks over at NPN and they have this to say,

‘Sources tell Nexus Point News that production is scheduled to begin at the end of August and continue through October of this year in Atlanta. Although NPN originally reported that production would take place alongside Man of Tomorrow, budgetary reasons delayed the series’ greenlight and delayed production so the series will begin shooting right as Man of Tomorrow wraps. Sources also tell Nexus Point News that casting is currently underway for the co-lead of the series, Grodd. Actors with comedic backgrounds are being considered for the role and that this will be a voiceover role. Other superpowered characters are being cast for the series along with a lawyer role, possibly hinting at the series featuring Grodd on trial.’

Next up John Campea claims to have spoken to people who have seen the first three Lanterns episodes and praised them. You can check it for yourself below, timestamp 56:06. But here’s the transcript.

“…I’ve talked to somebody not involved with WB who has seen the first three [Lanterns] episodes. They say it’s absolutely banger. They like, they absolutely loved what they saw.”

Batman And More

For our third rumor today, we have the potential casting of Batman in the DCU. This one also comes from John Campea who says this at timestamp 01:58:30.

“I think I know who Batman is! I think I know who DCU Batman is, I think DC’s cast him. I’ve had somebody write to me about a particular person that they believe it just got cast. I get a lot of those I don’t pay attention to a lot of them. But then, I heard from somebody else who’s a little bit more well positioned that verified that it looks like this is the guy and they don’t know I talked to the first person at all. So, I sent that pick to a Hollywood producer I know and like what do you think? So, I think I know who it is. I’m not going to say it right now, but I will say this: it’s not a name I would’ve guessed and I don’t think it’s a bad name, but it’s not a name I would’ve guessed. Yeah, not a name I would’ve guessed. I’m going to keep putting out feelers because I don’t want to say who I believe is going to be the next Batman until I’m a little more certain because yeah, I don’t want to spread misinformation. So, we’ll see.”

Now whilst no name was mentioned by Campea, it’s worth noting that speculation has run wild on Tom Britney. Meanwhile Campea has come out with this on his latest show.

Which, I think it’s fair to say seems a bit of a walk back compared to the quote above. The fact Campea is annoyed people are writing stories about this… Well, he’s not moaning when people use him as a metric because he’s supposedly read the script of Avengers: Doomsday, or he’s breaking other stories with links to his YT channel?

For what it’s worth, Jeff Sneider said on his recent show, timestamp 01:30:42, when asked if had any knowledge of Batman being cast?

“No.”

“Nothing against John Campea. I have not heard that the DCU has its own Batman.”

Which may be what’s giving Campea kittens about this one.

Finally today, we have some information on the upcoming Bane/Deathstroke movie. Essentially, the rumors is that this could be the next movie out the door after Man of Tomorrow and is currently a priority, but still to get a director and cast.

First off, from TheWrap,

“An individual with knowledge told TheWrap that DC is prioritizing a Bane/Deathstroke movie, but the project doesn’t have a director or cast lined up yet.”

Secondly, ApocHoreseman;

That’s it folks, quite a few DCU rumors to get your head around there, so let’s see which ones come to fruition. As always, leave any thoughts about any of these stories below.
