The cast of Marvel’s Ant-Man just got a little more talented. Corey Stoll, so excellent as Congressman Peter Russo on House of Cards, is about to join the project. According to Variety, he’s in negotiations for unknown role in the Edgar Wright film, which all ready has stars Paul Rudd and Michael Douglas onboard.
Stoll recently appeared in Liam Neeson’s latest action flick, Non-Stop, and earned raves for his performance in Woody Allen’s Midnight in Paris where he played literary legend Ernest Hemingway. His star is definitely on the rise.
Ant-Man, which Wright co-write with Joe Cornish, has kept its plot quite a secret up to this point so it’s anyone’s guess who Stoll might be playing. Other actors said to be in the running for roles in the movie that’s been described as a “heist film” are Michael Peña (whose excellent Cesar Chavez opens this Friday), Evangeline Lilly, and Patrick Wilson.
Marvel’s Ant-Man has been in-development for quite sometime. We’re talking years. So one can only hope, or imagine, that the script is dynamite. Based on the actors we’re seeing spring up for it, it just might be.
Ant-Man is set to premiere on July 17, 2015 as Part One of Marvel’s “Phase Three” of films that will begin after The Avengers: Age of Ultron comes out earlier that year.
