Folks, if you’re fans of Ryan Reynolds, it’s time to celebrate. With DEADPOOL the man finally had his first solo smash hit. As I touched on in a column on that film’s success, while Reynolds is a household name, and has a face recognizable enough to have an entire Super Bowl commercial built around it, he’s actually had an extremely flimsy run when it comes to box office success. That all changed when DEADPOOL came out and started breaking records, finally shattering the actor’s tough run. So how will the actor take his victory lap? By inviting Salma Hayek and Elodie Yung to join him, of course.

The one-time Mr. Johansson has lined up his next film, HITMAN’S BODYGUARD. Deadline is reporting that the film, which will be directed by KICK-ASS 2 helmer Jeff Wadlow, has added Hayek (DESPERADO, FRIDA, FROM DUSK TIL DAWN) and Elodie Yung- who’s about to have a “moment” when we meet her Elektra in DAREDEVIL Season 2. They’ll be joining Reynolds, Gary Oldman, and Samuel L. Jackson.
HITMAN’S BODYGUARD is a described as a high-octane action flick. It tells the story of “the world’s top protection agent (Reynolds) who gets a new client: a hit man who came in from the cold (Jackson). They’ve been on the opposite ends of a bullet for years and hate each other. They become stuck together and have 24 hours to get to the Hague. They have to get past a murderous Eastern European dictator (Oldman), and all the bad guys he can throw at them.”
The film will be working off of a script by FIRE WITH FIRE scribe Tom O’Connor, and is set to film in Amsterdam and Sofia- the capital of Bulgaria.
