Scott Eastwood, son of Clint, is about to break out in a major way. Not only is he set to appear the WB/DC blockbuster SUICIDE SQUAD, which arrives in theaters on August 5, but it looks like he may now join STAR WARS: THE FORCE AWAKENS star John Boyega as a key character in PACIFIC RIM 2.
Deadline reports that a deal is in the works, and they seem to think it’s only a matter of time until the proper pieces are in place. PACIFIC RIM 2 is apparently basing a lot of its schedule around Boyega’s availability- and rightfully so, when you consider that the man’s still got some considerable STAR WARS commitments that take precedence over any other projects that may pop up. It looks like his and Eastwood’s schedules will line up nicely and allow for the two budding stars to work alongside one another.
Boyega is said to be playing the son of Idris Elba‘s character from the first PACIFIC RIM, while Eastwood’s role is unknown at this time. Guillermo del Toro will not be back in the director’s chair for this one, as Steven S. DeKnight (Marvel’s DAREDEVIL on Netflix) assumes that role this time around.
Eastwood’s hot streak also includes an appearance in FAST 8. Between the types of projects he’s attached to, the rumors we’ve heard about his identity in the DCEU, and the fact that his father is a bonafide God in Hollywood, I think it’s safe to say that Eastwood’s got a lot working in his favor these next few years.
PACIFIC RIM 2 is expected to be released on February 23, 2018.
