We recently got some juice on the whole falling out that took place between Josh Trank and Lucasfilm, and how he was SO close to announcing a Star Wars Bounty Hunter that would’ve centered on fan-favorite character Boba Fett. Rumor has it he was even prepared to show a sizzle reel for the film at a Star Wars fan event. That whole thing fell through last year, when Trank exited the production and Lucasfilm went full-steam ahead preparing for a Young Han Solo movie to release in its place.
Now a new rumor making the rounds is that the movie is back on, and it comes courtesy of My Entertainment World. The industry site has listed the film as being slated to film at the same Pinewood Studios that have housed the other Star Wars films. It even goes so far as to supply a synopsis for this Untitled Boba Fett Star Wars Anthology Movie:
“An origin story of the galaxy’s most notorious bounty hunter. Boba Fett is a Mandolorian warrior who was trained by his father-figure Jango Fett and became a notorious bounty hunter throughout the galaxy.”
This, of course, begs the question of whether or not the film is going to put a new spin on the origin bits we were already shown in Star Wars: Attack of The Clones.
Lucasfilm has yet to make any official announcement regarding this Untitled Boba Fett Star Wars Anthology movie, but it’s looking increasingly likely that it’s going to be resurrected. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story just had another great weekend, and Lucasfilm’s Kathleen Kennedy has publicly stated that the film’s success- or failure- would determine the future of the studio’s Star Wars Anthology movies.
Might the official announcement of a Boba Fett movie come after those “January meetings” that Kennedy has said would take place over at Lucasfilm? We shall see.
