Aquaman Casts Young Version Of Arthur Curry

DC’s troubled production schedule has given way to a hole larger than any break between Marvel Cinematic Universe films. With Wonder Woman arriving on June 2, 2017, and Justice League following this November, Aquaman won’t see release until December 21, 2018, over a year after Justice League. Thankfully, the film recently began production, with Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Temura Morrison as Thomas Curry, Patrick Wilson as Ocean Master, and Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko. That’s quite the cast! Aquaman is being directed by James Wan of Insidious and The Conjuring fame.

A new cast member has been announced, in a now removed cast list on IMDB. The information is solid; after the listing was removed from the IMDB page of Aquaman, Screenrant was contacted by Otis Dhanji’s agents to remove specifics about shoot dates they had previously published.

So, who is Otis Dhanji? Dhanji is an Austrailian child actor with no notable credits, who will play young Arthur Curry in Aquaman. That’s right, we’ve seen young Clark Kent, young Bruce Wayne, and are about to see young Diana Prince, and there will be flashbacks or childhood origins for Aquaman as well. This all seems to be a trend with DC, but I’m not saying that’s a bad thing, as the initial New 52 issues of the Aquaman comic featured some flashbacks to better explain young Arthur Curry’s relationship with his father, Thomas. (“Why did you say that name? My dad is named Thomas too!” – Batman, maybe.)

Dhanji will be on set for six days to play the thirteen year-old Arthur Curry. So, while his role is not that extensive, expect to see more young Arthur than Young Bruce.

Aquaman swims into theaters on December 21, 2018.
