20th Century Studios’ Upcoming Films Showcased At D23 Expo

The crowd at Disney’s D23 Expo received an exclusive sneak peek of two highly anticipated films from 20th Century Studios: The Amateur and Avatar: Fire and Ash. Both films drew significant excitement as fans got a first look at the projects through special presentations.

Academy Award-winner Rami Malek took the stage to introduce The Amateur, an action-packed espionage thriller set to hit theaters nationwide on April 11, 2025. Malek, who stars in and produces the film, captivated fans as he shared details about his character, Charlie Heller, a brilliant yet introverted CIA decoder whose life is shattered when his wife is killed in a terrorist attack in London. Frustrated by his agency’s inaction, Heller sets out on a dangerous global mission to hunt down those responsible. The D23 audience was the first to view the trailer, showcasing intense action scenes and the gripping emotional journey that awaits audiences.

The sequel will bring audiences back to Pandora, where Jake Sully (Sam Worthington) and Neytiri (Zoe Saldaña) lead the Na’vi and their family through a new adventure. Cameron hinted at even deeper explorations of Pandora’s ecosystem and themes that resonate with our world today. Avatar: Fire and Ash is slated for release on December 19, 2025, exclusively in theaters.
