Despite what most fans assumed from watching the trailer, 4-LOM Is not in Obi-Wan Kenobi. This was confirmed by director Deborah Chow in a recent interview with Uproxx. The fact it looks like 4-LOM however is no coincidence. Like IG-88 – IG-11, this droid is the same model as 4-LOM, but this one is called 1-JAC.
Talking initially about the pronunciation of 4-LOM said this.
Chow says, “It’s actually Four Lom.” But then continues, “But that’s not actually 4-LOM though, it is actually a different droid named 1-JAC. Everyone thinks it’s 4-LOM.”
Prompted more by the fact it sure looks like 4-LOM.
“It’s similar,” says Chow.
As for what the story with 1-JAC is? Chow isn’t talking.
“For that you’re going to have to wait and see.” I do mention that he looks like bad news, Chow laughs, “They usually are.”

So there you go contrary to what fans thought, we are not getting a 4-LOM appearance. This fact also makes me think the droid gets disintegrated at some point, or why not use 4-LOM? of course we’ve seen this before within The Mandalorian. An IG droid which looked very much like IG-88 was spotted on set and fans just assumed it was IG-88. It turned out this was in fact IG-11, voiced by Taika Waititi. We all know IG-11’s story and where it went. It won’t be long now till we know what the score with 1-JAC is also.
Obi-Wan Kenobi premieres a week today on May 27th on Disney+. A double episode drops next week and then the show will have a weekly Wednesday release like most Disney+ shows.
Will 1-JAC get the development that IG-11 got in Mando? Are you disappointed at all, that 4-LOM Is not in Obi-Wan Kenobi? As always, leave anything below, or come chat with the team and other readers over on our Discord server, details below.
