Minorities and gay characters seem to have a bad wrap in horror movies. Almost always, they seem to be the first ones to perish in a horror or slasher film.
In the reboot of Wrong Turn, Adrian Favela plays Luis, a gay Hispanic man on a hiking trip with his friends in the wilderness. In this reimagination of the Wrong Turn movies, the common rules of who dies first are thrown out the window.
Here’s the official synopsis:
Backwoods terror and never-jangling suspense meet when Jen and a group of friends set out to hike the Appalachian Trail. Despite warnings to stick to the trail, the hikers stray off course—and cross into the land inhabited by The Foundation, a hidden community of mountain dwellers who use deadly means to protect their way of life. Suddenly under siege, Jen and her friends seem headed to the point of no return—unless Jen’s father can reach them in time.
The ensemble cast also includes Charlotte Vega (The Lodgers), Adain Bradley (Riverdale), Bill Sage (American Psycho), Emma Dumont (The Gifted), Dylan McTee (Rosewell, New Mexico), and Matthew Modine (Stranger Things). Mike P. Nelson (The Domestics) directed the horror film from the story with original Wrong Turn scriptwriter Alan B. McElroy.
