Agatha All Along Premiere Review – I Actually Enjoyed This

Here's my thoughts/review on Agatha All Along two part premiere and I'm a little surprised I actually really enjoyed it.

Here’s my thoughts/review on Agatha All Along two part premiere and I’m a little surprised I actually really enjoyed it. I liked Agatha in WandaVision, but nothing I had seen about this show was doing anything to excite me. Yet, I was always gonna watch this, I just planned to review the whole series after it had ended. These 25-40 min episodes we get in Marvel and Star Wars shows doesn’t really work for episodic reviews.

However after watching the opening two episodes, I just had to tell people I really had fun. FYI folks, SPOILER FREE REVIEW.

So far, Agatha All Along has been well crafted, filled with interesting characters and slightly mysterious. Now, for context I thought the first two episodes of Secret Invasion were good and that ended up a train wreck. So, I reserve the right to change my mind by the end of this series if it tanks.

So far though I like that the humor seems very…adult. What I mean is, they don’t oversell you on the jokes so you’ll pick it up no matter what. Instead there are some subtle little things which more active watching viewers may find amusing. I’ve seen some arguments that Episode 1 starts too slowly. However, for me, since everyone knows it’s not real, it builds anticipation when certain things happen. The show certainly changes tone dramatically at one point in Episode 1 and I actually think it was better afterwards. There is a lot of humor in the opening which some audiences might not get, poking fun at some common TV tropes. However, it’s played so straight that some may not pick up the comedic angle of it.

It’s slightly comedic, slightly witty, slightly diva and with a little wonder seeped in. Most importantly, this is cheap. No, I don’t mean it looks cheap, it looks fine. However, there is nothing on show here you haven’t seen in a thousand low budget TV series and that’s what Marvel and Star Wars TV needs to become to survive.

Oh and like in WandaVision Agatha is brilliantly played by Kathryn Hahn (and her bare butt).

Agatha may stay this good, or it may get worse? I kinda think this one might be a good one finally in a long line of piss poor Disney+ series. Let’s hope so. Agatha won’t engage your itch for deep character drama. However, if you wanna have some fun and have some intrigue whilst doing so, you may like this.

GRADE: B+

What do you think of my review of the Agatha All Along Premiere? As usual leave me your own thoughts on Agatha below if you have them.
