The friends undertake an epic journey to the Devil’s Thumb, traveling by bicycle, sailboat and on foot through the American West, Canada and Alaska. The Colorado native, Tommy Caldwell is known for making records in sport climbing, traditional climbing and rock climbing. National Geographic announced Caldwell as being the “best all-around rock climber on the planet” in 2015 and is very popular in the world of climbers. While Alex Honnold is known for his free solo big wall climbs. He was the first to free solo El Capitan in Yosemite National Park. His journey is now a documentary film, Free Solo, which is a BAFTA and Academy winner.

I had the privilege to be connected with the subjects of The Devil’s Climb, Alex Honnold and Tommy Caldwell. They both spoke about putting themselves through the 2,600 mile bike ride before the climb. As well as to the journey while with a filming crew that were around at all times, the joy of both being in their element and having fun throughout the expedition and much more!
