In the new car documentary, American Cats: The Good, The Bad, And The Cuddly we are brought all around awareness in the act of converting cats to be “couch friendly.” Bringing us the big picture to how much of a big revenue veterinarians pocket at the cost of felines pain.  Including the physical and repercussion a kitty faces after going through a minimum of 18 amputations when declawed. Dr.Jennifer Conrad has been working non-stop in trying to ban the cat declawing practice. An action that has been disliked by other fellow veterinarians making a good living out of it. Including the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) that rather protects a billion dollar business.

The Synopsis

In this documentary, comedian Amy Hoggart (Full Frontal with Samantha Bee) dives deep into the controversial world of cat declawing in the United States. On the surface, it appears as a simple, harmless surgery for the convenience of pet owners, but as Hoggart digs deeper, a disturbing nationwide conspiracy unfolds. Through interviews with veterinarians, activists, and pet owners, the documentary unveils a powerful industry lobby that not only promotes but profits from this inhumane procedure. As Hoggart navigates the maze of misinformation, she discovers the profound physical and psychological effects declawing has on our feline friends. “American Cats” is a thought-provoking exposé that challenges the ethical implications of our choices and calls for a nationwide reflection on our treatment of animals. And also lots of jokes and cute kittens.

Dr.Jennifer Conrad is known for her dedication to animal care, mainly for her love and care of cats. She is a reputable veterinarian and is trusted by production companies to care for those television four legged stars. While attending to wild, exotic cats, she learned about declawing. In her attempt to alleviate their pain she started to surgically paw salvage these declawed kitties that were in serious pain. It was a successful treatment and became a spokesperson to stop the painful act. While she was seen as an enemy by some of her peers that wanted to make the extra buck with such amputation she created the Paw Project. Today, it is the largest nonprofit that encourages to stop the declawing procedure.

She shared how she first learned about cats being declawed and why she decided to advocate for it to be stopped. Because of it why for over two decades she has been looked up to with support while hated by others. Conrad discussed the gruesome consequences behind declawing and more!
