In a recent interview Sony’s Amy Pascal reveals what Spider-Man 4 is about thematically with filming expected to begin next year. Speaking with Deadline in a recent video interview, Pascal had this to say about the next MCU Spider-Man movie.
“We have to deal with the fact that he decided he was going to give up being Peter Parker and he was gonna focus on being Spider-Man because being Peter Parker was too hard.”
Hmm, so kinda like the reverse of Spider-Man 2 where Peter gave up being Spider-Man? I’m not sure I got the sense that No Way Home ended with Peter actually giving up being Peter Parker. It’s just everyone who knew Peter no longer remembers him. I mean with the fact Zendaya is returning, we knew this would be dealt with. I guess I just didn’t expect it to be that he’s sort of ‘given up’ being Peter.

Rumors around the plot of Spider-Man 4 have swung wildly since talks began. For now, the most recent rumors suggest that Tom Hardy’s Venom may show up and so may Knull, the King in Black. It remains to be seen who else is along for the ride, though I’m guess we will find out more once filming begins.
We’re not 100% sure when filming begins for Spider-Man 4. It was originally supposed to be Spring/Summer, 2025. Although some recent rumors suggested it could be pushed back to late 2025. Therefore a delay in the release may be necessary. July, 2026 was when we expected to see Spider-Man 4, but it could now be Christmas, 2026. That’s all unofficial though.
