Anime Expo 2023: The Annual Weeb Pilgrimage Proves Conventions Aren’t Dead | Gallery & Video
The last three years have been tough on the convention circuit. From COVID lockdowns to the popularity, and relative cheapness, of digital events like Disney+ Day, we have seen conventions canceled, scaled down, and even all but die in the case of E3. However, Anime Expo, the Los Angeles, California dream destination for many-an-Anime fan, managed to put on a stellar and SOLD OUT show amongst entertainment industry strikes and record inflation.
The 4-day event was held from July 1st – July 4th and saw an estimated 160,000 unique visitors, although official numbers are still out. This was my first AX, but I have two San Diego Comic-Cons, two NYCCs, and a handful of smaller cons under my belt to compare to, and AX 2023 had one of the craziest floors I have ever seen! The crowd was THICK and the offerings MASSIVE! Check out these two live-streams from our trip there to cover the event:

The next Anime Expo will be July 4-7, 2024
