Rodrigo Santoro is part of the new Portuguese language film, Beast Ride. Not as part of the beastie side, but as a villain that while he may be a repugnant character there is a side that you can find appealing. A film directed by Oscar nominated director, Fernando Meirelles (“City of God“), Rodrigo Pesavento and Ernesto Solis.
The Synopsis
Sometime in the future, Rio de Janeiro lies in ruins—its society fractured by class warfare, its people consumed by a brutal spectacle known as the Beast Race. In this high-stakes blood sport, masked runners tear through a devastated city while the elite wager on their lives. Every runner must pledge collateral: a human life condemned to the mysterious, dreaded Coast of Hell if they lose. Mano leads the Death Perimeter, a rebel zone devoted to dismantling the race, where runners are intercepted, routes are destroyed, and freedom has no price. But when he discovers his younger sister has been offered as collateral by her boyfriend, Mano is forced to do the unthinkable: enter the very system he’s spent his life resisting.
While the Portuguese actor, Rodrigo Santoro studied journalism at Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro he was enrolled in an actors workshop. His first gigs were in Brazilian telenovelas. Full length features are what helped him get recognized, like Bicho de Sete Cabeças and Abril Despedaçado that was a 2022 Golden Globe nominee for best foreign film. Shortly after he was contacted by Colombia Features for Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, the film that established Santoro in Hollywood. He is known for Love Actually, Lost, 300 and Westworld. Earlier this year he was seen on Netflix for Brazil ‘70: The Third Star and Prime Videos Sin Limites.Next month he will appear in theaters for Runner, starring Alan Ritchson and Owen Wilson.
