In a recent interview Benedict Cumberbatch says he doesn’t know when a Doctor Strange 3 will happen, nor does he know what’s happening with Avengers 5. Speaking with The Playlist Cumberbatch was asked whether Doctor Strange 3 will come out before Avengers 5?
“Who knows!”
As for whether Strange will be part of Avengers 5?
“We will see. We will find out,” he said. “I’m not sure where he’s been and what he’s been up to and who with, but yeah, I know as little as you.”
Of course the last time we saw Strange he was leaving to aid Clea (Charlize Theron) at the end of Multiverse of Madness. I think fans figured that story might come before Avengers 5, which was then called The Kang Dynasty. However, Avengers 5 is rumored to begin production by the end of 2025. So far there has been no rumors of a third Doctor Strange movie being anywhere close to production. So perhaps that fan theory is out the window?

Cumberbatch was also asked about all the reported delays and issues with Multiverse of Madness. However, he claims he never really knew about then or got involved in any of that.
“I was unaware of the articles. You’re part of a big machine, but you’re just trying to solve the problems on a set like any other job, he explained about this time on ‘Multiverse of Madness.’ “And, yeah, it’s a massive sand pit to play in with very big and expensive, breakable toys. But you can only really do that if you’re loose and free and just doing your work as an actor. So, I kind of knuckled down and did that.”
I thought Multiverse of Madness was, okay, but there was a better movie in there trying to get out. I think Marvel knows they could have swung harder at that one. Which, is possibly why they are getting so many cameos into Deadpool & Wolverine? As per the rumors anyway.
What do you think of his comments as Benedict Cumberbatch says he doesn’t know when a Doctor Strange 3 will happen, nor does he know what’s happening with Avengers 5? Thoughts below as always.
