Black Widow, Eternals, A Quiet Place 2, Mulan, And More Set New Release Dates, Artemis Fowl To Land On Disney+

Release Dates! Release Dates! Fresh new dates hot off the press!

There are few things scarier for film and video game fans than the words “delayed indefinitely.” Unfortunately, it’s a phrase that’s been attached to a lot of projects that were affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. With no one really having any idea how long any of this will take, many studios were understandably not into the idea of setting a new date just yet. Sure, there were titles like F9: The Fast Saga that went and pushed themselves back a year or so, but not all did. A Quiet Place Part II, Mulan, and Black Widow, for instance, were not given a new date when first delayed last month.

But how soon would we have to wait until their new dates were announced? Would we have to ride out this entire pandemic? Surprisingly, not really. Studios have been brave enough to announce brand-new release dates. So, where to start? Let’s start with Black Widow. That film was supposed to hit early May and is now slated for November 6, 2020. That date was originally earmarked for Eternals, which has been moved to Shang-Chi’s original date of February 2021.

A good chunk of the Marvel slate also cascaded downward, with Doctor Strange 2 getting pushed to November 2021, and Thor: Love and Thunder to February 2022.

Mulan, surprisingly, has only been pushed to July 24. It seems like quite the risky placement, but there’s that Disney optimism for you. Free Guy has been pushed from July to December 11 of this year and West Side Story to December 18. Jungle Cruise, unfortunately, is getting delayed a full year to July 30, 2021.

A Quiet Place Part II has probably one of the most sensible dates on there of September 4, 2020.

Finally, in an interesting move, Disney has nixed Artemis Fowl from its May 29 release schedule. Instead, it’s moving the novel adaptation to Disney+. Sadly, we do not know the date of release yet, but it’s set to be announced soon.

How do you feel about Disney and other studios starting to lay claim to the latter half of 2020? Does it make you any more optimistic that we’re getting all these release dates? Let us know your thoughts down below!
