The latest Barside Buzz offers some Blade plot details which say we’ll get the Ebony Blade, but no Black Knight outside of a post credit scene. As readers know the character of Black Knight was introduced as Dane Whitman in Eternals. The post-credit scene of Eternals had Mahershala Ali’s only work as Blade to date as his voice off-screen warned Whitman to not touch the blade.
The latest plot rumors come from initially Daniel RPK on his Patreon. According to RPK after recent script changes the movie will remain a period piece. The villain is Lilith who is going after Blade’s daughter to create an army of Day Walkers. The weapon Lilith uses is the Ebony Blade.
Alex P of TCC seemed to back up RPK’s story details and also had this to say regarding a Dane Whitman appearance.
Outside of a PCS, which is what I’m expecting, no involvement of Dane Whitman in this story. https://t.co/EhG9iCwdhn

So no Black Knight outside of a post credit scene. Actually when you see the plot, and the fact this is a period piece, it makes a lot of sense. It looks like Blade will be the story of how the Ebony Blade is where it is, and how it connects to Whitman without actually having him be involved. I assume a post credit scene which follows on from the one at the end of Eternals will work, because now we know why Blade is warning Whitman. At least, it makes sense to me.

I guess the only downside to this approach is how long this has all taken. When we add COVID to strikes, and mix in Blade script delays, it’s been a long time since that Eternals PCS. November 2021 we heard Blade warn Dane. It will be at 2025/26 before we see Blade and have a follow up. If there’s some event for Black Knight which comes after that it could be 2027/28 before we get around to Black Knight.
Maybe if not for all the issues mentioned above this would have all been tightened up and felt more serialised? Then again, can’t change any of that now.
What do you think of these rumored Blade plot details which say we’ll get the Ebony Blade, but no Black Knight outside of a post credit scene? Thoughts below as always.
