According to Variety, Sylvia Hoeks, who audiences last saw (though not many) in Denis Villeneuve’s sci-fi flick Blade Runner 2049, is in talks to join The Girl in the Spider’s Web. She will be joining actress Claire Foy, who is set to play the iconic role of Lisbeth Salander. Set to direct is Fede alvarez, who directed last year’s big surprise, Don’t Breathe.
The Girl in the Spider’s Web is the fourth book in the Millenium Series that started with The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo back in the mid-2000s. The books have since been adapted into a trilogy of films in Sweden, and one English language adaptation from David Fincher.
The Girl in the Spider’s Web will be seeing the big screen for the first time in this English language format, and this will likely kickstart a new series of films that will continue on with the rest of the books. Just this month, the fifth book in the series, The Girl Who Takes An Eye for An Eye hit bookshelves, and the series will likely continue for the foreseeable future.
Sadly, there’s no word yet on what Hoeks’ role will be in the film, but considering how little time we have left until its release, it likely won’t be too long.
The Girl in the Spider’s Web will hit theaters October 19, 2018.
