Blanka Takes Center Stage In New Street Fighter Special Look

The fight is heating up ahead of this fall’s release of Street Fighter, and Paramount Pictures has unveiled a brand-new special look that puts one of the franchise’s most iconic characters front and center.

Titled “Blanka vs. Ryu Special Look,” the newly released preview showcases the highly anticipated showdown between Jason Momoa’s Blanka and Andrew Koji’s Ryu, offering fans their best look yet at one of the film’s signature battles before it punches into theaters on October 16, 2026.

The footage teases a clash between two of Capcom’s most recognizable fighters, highlighting the film’s commitment to bringing the larger-than-life action of the legendary video game franchise to the big screen.

A New Tournament, A Dangerous Conspiracy

Set in 1993, the film follows estranged martial artists Ryu (Andrew Koji) and Ken Masters (Noah Centineo), whose paths cross once again after the mysterious Chun-Li (Callina Liang) recruits them to compete in the latest World Warrior Tournament.

What begins as a global martial arts competition quickly evolves into something far more dangerous. As the tournament unfolds, Ryu and Ken uncover a conspiracy lurking behind the battles, forcing the longtime friends to confront one another while facing unresolved demons from their shared past.

According to the film’s synopsis, failure won’t simply cost them the tournament—it could mean “Game Over.”

Jason Momoa’s Blanka Steals the Spotlight

Although the film boasts one of the largest ensembles ever assembled for a Street Fighter adaptation, the latest preview shines brightest on Jason Momoa’s interpretation of Blanka.

One of the franchise’s most recognizable characters, Blanka has long been a fan favorite thanks to his feral fighting style, electric attacks, and unmistakable appearance. The new footage suggests the live-action version will retain the character’s intimidating physicality while presenting him as a formidable obstacle for Ryu.

The matchup also provides another showcase for Andrew Koji, whose background in martial arts has made him a natural fit for portraying the disciplined world warrior.

A Packed Roster of Fan Favorites

Director Kitao Sakurai has assembled an expansive cast that spans nearly every corner of the Street Fighter universe.

Alongside Koji, Momoa, and Centineo, the film stars:

  • Callina Liang as Chun-Li
  • Joe “Roman Reigns” Anoa’i as Akuma
  • David Dastmalchian as M. Bison
  • Cody Rhodes as Guile
  • Andrew Schulz as Dan Hibiki

  • Orville Peck as Vega
  • Olivier Richters as Zangief
  • Hirooki Goto as E. Honda

The film is directed by Kitao Sakurai from a screenplay by Sakurai and T.J. Fixman, based on a story by Dalan Musson and Gary Dauberman.

Bringing the Arcade to the Big Screen

Produced by Paramount Pictures and Legendary Pictures in association with Capcom, the film promises to embrace the over-the-top style that has defined the franchise for nearly four decades.

The latest footage hints at signature techniques, explosive martial arts action, and faithful recreations of the characters that helped make Street Fighter one of the most influential fighting game series of all time. Between Hadoukens, high-flying kicks, and larger-than-life rivalries, the movie appears determined to capture the energy that fans remember from the arcade era while delivering a modern blockbuster spectacle.

With the “Blanka vs. Ryu” special look now available, anticipation continues to build for what could become the franchise’s biggest cinematic outing yet.

Street Fighter arrives exclusively in theaters on October 16, 2026, bringing the World Warrior Tournament to the big screen once again.
