Of course, if you’re a long-time watcher of the Transformers movies, we already know exactly how Bumblebee communicates with humans. He may not have a voice, but he can at least figure out a way to communicate his emotions using the radio. However, in the upcoming Bumblebee film, we get to see him actually figure this out for the first time.
“One of the things we explore in the film is how Bumblebee finds his voice,” director Travis Knight said in a new featurette. “Bumblebee is the Transformer that has the deepest connection with humans, and we’re able to explore how that happened.”

From there, we are shown a scene where the main character, Charlie, played by Hailee Steinfeld, realizes the real reason why Bumblebee keeps messing with those radio dials.
Below is the official synopsis for Bumblebee:
“On the run in the year 1987, Bumblebee finds refuge in a junkyard in a small Californian beach town. Charlie (Hailee Steinfeld), on the cusp of turning 18 and trying to find her place in the world, discovers Bumblebee, battle-scarred and broken. When Charlie revives him, she quickly learns this is no ordinary, yellow VW bug.”
