According to Deadline, Calypso cast for Kraven the Hunter! The trade are reporting Ariana DeBose will play Calypso in the Aaron Taylor-Johnson led movie from Sony Pictures. This actually comes as a bit of a surprise to me because it was not long ago we published a rumor that Sony were circling actress Taylour Paige. That rumor came from The Illuminerdi who are normally very on point with casting. However I assume the info was out of date, or talks with Paige didn’t go as well as they did with DeBose? Getting Oscar nominated actress Ariana DeBose for a Sony movie is a bit of a coup to be sure. DeBose is nominated for her recent role in West Side Story.

DeBose’s stock has been skyrocketing following her scene-stealing role as Anita in Steven Spielberg’s Oscar-nominated West Side Story adaptation. Besides taking home the SAG Award for Supporting Actress, DeBose also has BAFTA and Critics Choice noms in the same category.

Anyone who regularly reads LRM probably knows how I feel about Kraven, or any of these SSMU movies that don’t yet feature a Spider-Man. Hopefully Sony can do something about that soon, otherwise I’m struggling to be very interested.
I can honestly say I hope that both Morbius, out soon, and Kraven are really good movies. I do however have zero interest in Tom Hardy’s version of Venom. Morbius though intrigues me, I won’t lie. I will wait for word of mouth, but I could see me catching that at some point for sure.
