Captain Marvel is the first MCU movie of 2019 and also the first MCU movie to have a female lead character, we don’t have too long to wait now and the new TV spot above shows us plenty of new footage we hadn’t seen before in other trailers.
One wonders if this trailer was cut to show a lighter side to Carol Danvers after some fans had moaned that she looked too serious and was never smiling enough (I don’t get that criticism without seeing the movie, but hey, that’s me). This latest TV spot has Carol smiling, whooping and even high fiving a kid and as said, I wonder if it was specifically cut this way to aid in the marketing of the movie after said criticisms.

From what I’m seeing online, it’s working, with many fans posting their thoughts that this trailer finally got them hyped for the movie. I myself was hyped from the first trailer and can’t wait to turn up at my local theatre on March 8th. I am really looking forward to the dynamic between the younger version of Nick Fury and Danvers, which again is highlighted in this spot.
I still think Marvel is being very careful to keep much of the content from the latter third of the movie out of the trailers and that’s for me always a smart move with any trailer. Who can forget the Doomsday reveal in the first trailer for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice? No, I’d rather have the movie finale revealed to me for the first time when I am sitting in front of the cinema screen thanks.
