Cassandra Cain Is Returning To The Pages Of A Solo Series Just In Time For Her 25th Anniversary – DC ALL IN: The Comic Source

Just in time for her 25th anniversary, Cassandra Cain is returning to the pages of a solo title. Tate Brombal, most well known for his work on House of Slaughter at Boom Studios, will be handling the writing duties. Brombal also has a DC Elseworlds title coming focusing on a new and different Green Lantern in Green Lantern Dark, but this title will be in the main continuity as is being branded as part of DC’s all in initiative. Art will be from Takeshi Miyazawa, whose work you may have seen previously on Ms. Marvel or Mech Cadet Yu. Miyazawa’s art definitely has a heavy manga influence so it should translate well to handle the action for one of the best fighters in the DCU. The recently announced Black Canary Best of the Best  title from Tom King and Ryan Sook certainly has people talking about who might be considered the best fight in the larger DC Universe, but that tale is Black Label so the matter is far from settled and likely won’t be in either of these titles in the long run. What they do have in common though is an antagonist that is certainly considered to be extremely formidable, Lady Shiva. It makes a lot of sense that Shiva would show up considering she is Cassandra Cain’s mother, but how prominent a role she will have in the title is unclear at this point. What is certain is that Cassandra Cain fans will have something to look forward to in November when issue number one of this titles hits comic shops. Wednesday, November 6

Hold on to your seats, clutch your pearls, and rejoice in celebration because on November 6, Cassandra Cain is taking center stage in her first solo Batgirl series in nearly two decades, courtesy of writer Tate Brombal (Green Lantern DarkHouse of Slaughter) and artist Takeshi Miyazawa (Ms. MarvelMech Cadet Yu).

When a deadly group of assassins shows up to kill Cassandra Cain, Lady Shiva must come to the rescue, and they’re forced to put their complicated past aside and work together as mother and daughter to ensure they make it out alive. Unfortunately, things are never as easy as they seem, and Batgirl must embark on a jaw-dropping, martial-arts filled adventure in her quest for truth and justice…and revenge?! This is a Batgirl unlike any other so don’t miss the opportunity to dive into the psyche of one of Gotham City’s deadliest fighters, while exploring her deep and complex relationship with her mother.

“Cassandra Cain has long been my favorite Bat-Family character, so I am seriously honored to be taking on her story—in the year of her 25th anniversary, no less,” said Brombal. “Get ready for family drama, long-buried secrets coming to light, and LOTS of martial arts ass-kicking the way only Cass can do. Batgirl is back in her own title, and the world won’t know what hit it.”

“I’m so excited to be exploring the story of Cassandra Cain with Tate,” added artist Miyazawa. “She’s an intriguing part of the Bat-Family and I can’t wait to see all the twists and turns. I’m also honored to be drawing such a wonderful book as my first DC project!”

Batgirl #1 features a main cover by David Talaski, with variant covers by Jeff Dekal, Stanley “Artgerm” Lau (card stock and foil versions), and Skylar Patridge. Visit your local comic book shop for availability and preordering.
