New Barside Buzz says Charles Melton (Beef S2) is one of the actors in the running for the role of Beast (Hank McCoy) in the X-Men reboot, plus there’s more casting rumors. The film is casting right now with a view to production starting perhaps late this year or next. X-Men will see director Jake Schreier introduce the MCU’s own variation on the iconic X-Men team as it steps away from those who will be seen again in Avengers: Doomsday.
First up with the news was insider MTTSH who claimed that Melton was in consideration for a unnamed role in the movie.
However, we have some new details courtesy of Jeff Sneider on his latest newsletter from The InSneider. Sneider confirms Melton is one of several actors that are up for the role of Beast, so it’s not a done deal yet.
“Of course, others are still in the mix, such as A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms star Peter Claffey, while even more actors are still waiting to read for the plum part.”

Some other names have been mentioned by Sneider including Odessa A’Zion as a possibility for Rogue. Cynthia Erivo’s (Wicked) has been widely rumored for Storm, but I’m not sure if that’s just a bit of fan casting/speculation, for now. I’m sure Marvel would love to get Erivo, but would she take it and how much would that cost?
Finally Sneider had some possible villain casting news also, Namely Wagner Moura.
“But I’ve also heard Moura’s name floated as a potential James Bond villain, so we’ll see which major franchise lands his sinister services in the wake of his Oscar-nominated turn in The Secret Agent.”
I think it’s a little too early for frontrunners and director Jake Schreier has said he’s begun taking to actors. I guess I’m just saying perhaps it’ll take a bit of time before we start to get trades announcing anyone, as I don’t think we are quite that far along yet.
Sneider also claims the movie is moving into pre-production phase in Q4 of this year. Therefore, towards the latter end of 2026, I’d start looking out for trade stories about casting and those will be the locks.
Let us know what you think, would Charles Melton make a good Beast in the X-Men Reboot, who do you think should play the role? Thoughts below.
