On Thursday, it was announced that filmmaker Joss Whedon would be stepping down as writer and director of the upcoming Batgirl film. The reason? Apparently, the dude didn’t have a story for her, and rather than force it into production in spite of this being the case, he thought it best to make way for someone who did have something to say.
What does this mean for other productions? Does this seem to confirm that Warner Bros. really doesn’t know what they’re doing with their films? Should we be worried about other projects that are in development? Namely, what does this mean for another member of the Bat Family, Nightwing?

Not to worry, Chris McKay fans. It doesn’t sound like he’ll be voluntarily stepping down from the position. The LEGO Batman Movie helmer took to Twitter to assuage any doubts.
I’m pretty sure WB are going to have to fire me if they want me to leave Nightwing…..

Of course, this doesn’t necessarily mean that Warner Bros. couldn’t oust him from the project, but as it stands, there seems to be little danger in McKay not having a story to tell. Despite being a lesser known entity in the DC Universe (at least for mainstream fans), he looks to be #AllIn.
