The Colin Farrell Penguin HBO Max show will be both prequel and sequel to The Batman says the latest Barside Buzz. We first reported Deadline‘s reveal of a Penguin show back in September. However Daniel Richtman on his Patreon service gave some details which he marked as a confirmed rumor. I.e. This is information he has been able to verify and feel very confident of putting out there. This Penguin show is said by Richtman to be both a prequel and a sequel to The Batman.
Richtman also says that the Penguin HBO Max show will begin filming sometime in mid-2022.
I think this sounds cool. I’ve always been a fan of Batman having his own Universe. One where the enemies and threats are all appropriate to his skills. It sounds like WB is creating a The Batman Universe separate from the rest of the DCEU. Frankly I’m hyped for it. I think The Batman looks great and I can’t wait to see it in theatres. Hopefully WB can build a world where we get stories on both HBO Max and theatres for this version of Gotham. I’d love to see Pattinson’s Batman show up for a cameo in a TV series, but still be the star of the bigger movies.

The little I have seen of Farrell as Penguin and the little I have heard, all sound super positive.
Now, if HBO Max could just not charge all their content as video on demand in the U.K and actually gives us HBO Max, that would be great. Sadly, it seems the plan is to fleece U.K. consumers to rent movies one at a time rather than pay a subscription fee. Oh and that’s on a TV service they already charge a heft subscription fee for.
What do you think of these rumors that the Colin Farrell Penguin HBO Max show is both prequel and sequel to The Batman? Thoughts below as always on this Barside Buzz.
