Camp comedies have been comedic darlings since the 1980s with the start of Meatballs starring Bill Murray in his first film role.

The formula is simple: unruly camp counselors and undisciplined campers lead to outrageous hijinks and extreme pranks.

In the Canadian camp comedy Boys vs. Girls, the film captured the comedic essence of great camp comedies of Meatballs, Camp Nowhere, and even the cult film Wet Hot American Summer.

The film’s headline stars are two of the biggest comedy icons Colin Mochrie (Whose Line is it Anyway) and Kevin McDonald (The Kids in the Hall). The real stars are with the kids and counselors with Eric Osborne (Degrassi), Rachel Dagenais (The Birder), Shaun Benson (Amazon’s The Boys), Dante Albidone (Netflix’s The Umbrella Academy), Leo Choy (Schitt’s Creek), and Jess Camacho (Netflix’s Locke & Key). Michael Stasko directed and wrote the screenplay.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In the summer of 1990, Camp Kindlewood is forced to go co-ed for the first time in its seventy-year existence. Roger (Colin Mochrie), the camp director, tries to convince both sides that this is a great idea in an effort to keep the camp off the corporate chopping block. But after head counselors Dale (Eric Osborne) and Amber (Rachel Dagenais) have an awkward encounter, all bets are off. Both Dale and Amber really their sides in an attempt to win back their camp and gain dominance over what they feel is rightfully theirs. This battle of the sexes sets off a series of pranks and mischief, fueled by camp caretaker Coffee (Kevin McDonald), as the boys and girls fight for their summertime home.
