Daredevil Showrunner Says Mayor Fisk Storyline Ends With Born Again Season 2 And Why Not To Expect MCU Crossovers

Daredevil showrunner Dario Scardapane says the Mayor Fisk storyline will end in Born Again Season 2, also why we should not expect MCU crossovers. The information in this article comes from the latest edition of SFX Magazine who spoke to Scardapane recently.

Speaking with SFX Scardapane said,

“So as we finish up the Mayor Fisk run with season 2, as that storyline comes to its inevitable conclusion, what we’re doing going forward feels more like a return to the [Frank] Miller-era comics. So yeah, it was fun to play in the realm of politics but I like something a little more street level, personally.”

Which of course should not be taken that Fisk isn’t in Born Again Season 3, just that the Mayor plot will be ended.

Scardapane also told the publication not to expect any movie MCU star crossovers in future seasons.

“I’d be into it, because I dig the comics! But no. That’s been kind of a fun and challenging thing. We know there’s that huge world out there of the MCU. This corner of it has crossovers. We’ve seen Daredevil in other shows.”

“There are other characters that are going to be popping up in movies and stuff, and that all goes into the larger MCU of it all. The joke we make is, ‘Oh, those guys are uptown – we’re downtown!’ We kind of have a pocket that’s in this world of Hell’s Kitchen, in this world of New York.”

“I always think that maybe these characters take little vacations into the larger world, but the story that we’re focusing on is really granular.”

Personally, I quite happily suspend my disbelief on all these heroes and villains not running into each other. It was always the same in the comics. Whilst easier to pull off the vast majority of comic runs didn’t feature other heroes or villains showing up in the back ground. Yet, drawing Steve Rogers in the background of a panel is a lot easier than casting Chris Evans for one shot of a film or series. So, you accept the limits of what is possible. This is still the most interconnected comic book Universe we’ve ever had outside the actual comics.

Of course, that does not rule out someone like Daredevil showing up in a future Spider-Man or Avengers film? One character we can rule out from movies for now is Wilson Fisk though due to legal complications.

So, what do you think of the news that the Mayor Fisk storyline ends in Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 and that we should not expect big MCU star crossovers? Thoughts below.
